Every woman should read this book!

I have been a fan of the blog blackgirlsareasy.com for years....I literally read through every single blog he had written up to that point when I discovered it in one day! I loved his writing style, witty euphemisms, the photographs he used to compliment the subject matters, and the topics he wrote about were so very relatable! I was so impressed I even sent him an e-mail to thank him for creating and consistently maintaining the blog with fresh reads. AND HE RESPONDED!!! My respect went even further and I became a fan (albeit quietly--I don't like to comment on public forums). When I read that he was writing a book, I sent him several e-mails to find out when it was going to be in the bookstores. I could not wait for his book to drop and I knew I would purchase a copy immediately because I dream of writing a book myself and I wanted to support him in the ways that his blog has supported me. I pretty much have memorized most of his blogs, (I reread them frequently as a refresher--I'm a SPARTAN BABY) so I was hoping the book would have even more insight into the male psyche and provide even more advice. I was so impatient waiting on the delivery of my book so I could dig in and enjoy! He did recycle a great deal of the material from his blog and remixed the wording so that he may reach a wider audience, but those are his creative works and not everyone is as obsessed with his blog as me so it will definitely be a fresh read for a lot of consumers! I highly, highly recommend this book for women who are willing to look into themselves and be willing to change the things they do to alienate the men in their lives. To understand a man, you need a man to tell you what the real scoop is and the author did that in such an awesome manner that some guys may be tempted to revoke his man-code card. LOL! But ladies, this website changed my mentality on men and changed my life. I cannot express enough how real the information in this book is and it's been tested and proven by moi for over 2 years. I really hope this book becomes a best seller and the author (who I still refer to as NC-17) has much success and becomes a household name!

If you're tired of trying to think like a man, this book is for you.

I just got the book today, so my rating might be a bit premature, but I have not put it down since it arrived. The advice is raw and real. So, if you're looking for some sugar coated nonsense you might want to look elsewhere. This book is perfect for women like myself who are tired of trying to navigate through the b.s, and with this book I think I've found the GPS to entering the dating world again. What I like most about the book so far is that it is not about becoming someone a man will love but becoming and evolving into the YOU that YOU will love and hence attract the man that will love you too. He actually recognizes the beauty in the female prowess-- a prowess that is very significant. I will edit this review once I finish the book, which by the looks of it won't be long.

Oh, and I must add, I also appreciate that the author is accessible. I emailed him after reading an article on his blog and he actually responded to me with some of the realest and most sincere advice that I have ever been given. Not sure if the author reads these reviews, but I want him to know I'm grateful.

Update:

I finished this book in about a week, but am just now getting around to editing this review. My original review still stands and I will be using this book as reference guide for my future interactions with men. I think my BS radar was there all along, now with this book I know to listen to it.

not what I was looking for

Overall the book was cute but not nearly as informative it organized as ho tactics. I would have rather this book as a gift instead of buying it with my own money. Some chapters were alright but overall the focus was not there and instead of giving a how to on the basics of becoming a Spartans more time was spent talking about sticky situations like kids, and exes,etc. I felt as though too much time on past situations didn't allow this book to move in the direction I was expecting.

Good Read

This was a very enjoyable book. For those who like military science fiction with a bit of space opera thrown in, this book will be tailor made for you. If you like David Weber's Honor Harrington series, you will like this book (but more on that later).

The story is about a fairly junior space fighter pilot and her rise through the ranks during her space-nation's long war with marauding space barbarians (who it turns out are really . What makes the story interesting is that the main character is a member of a space nation that is 98% women. They are a female dominated culture because they were forced to settle their world in a highly radioactive nebula with the consequence that in order to survive they had to manipulate the genetic code. This genetic manipulation enabled the colonists to survive but with the side effect that live births of males became rare. This is a good "hook" for the story and the author tells it well. The story moves briskly, the characters are well developed, and the space combat believable and interesting.

Now the book does have a couple of problems:

-- The first "problem" is the obvious derivative nature of the plot/story. I said that if one likes the Honor Harrington series one would like this book. That's because much of the story in this book is a clone of several Honor Harrington books. An isolated space nation is discovered by a larger empire, a space nation with a culture completely foreign to the space empire, and a space nation whose alliance with that empire contributes more than one would think given the small space nation's size. It's essentially the planet "Grayson" that is featured in most Honor Harrington books (the ideas I mentioned are not by any means the only similarities). Now this is only a "problem" in the sense that it is there. I didn't find it too troubling, it's far from being plagiarism, but purists out there might react differently. As it is, the high quality of the story telling makes made it easy for me to ignore this issue.

-- The second problem I had was the absence of sex. The issue is this: we have a society with 98% women, with the men hidden away and basically used a sperm donors, yet there is never any mention or even hint of how the women in this culture handle sex and romantic relationships. Do they have sex with one another? No indication they do. Do they fall in love with one another? No hint. There would have to be some kind of cultural adjustment...but there is no mention of it. Unless. Unless the culture's skilled geneticists bred out sexual desire. But there is no indication of that either, especially since the main character begins to be attracted to a male from a foreign space empire. Now I do not want soft porn in my reading. However, I found the believability of the entire book placed into question by the complete absence of any discussion of how this culture handles sex.

Now those two "problems" are minor given the overall good story telling in the book. Overall, I enjoyed the book very much and I intend to buy the sequel.

Amazing piece of work

A lengthy novel that is suddenly over in no time all. This guy can write, and write well. This is like an Honor Harington story when it was done right, unfortunately HH has gone almost completely off the rails. Classic space naval battles done brilliantly. This novel is tight, little excess, and opens up a vast universe of possibilities. At the end, I was staggered by how many major plot lines are open to explore. This book kept its secrets close to its vest, but I never felt like I was being toyed with. It just wasn't the right time to go there yet. I still cant get over how much ground it covered, but I only feel like it covered a quarter of the story.

This will become a classic of space opera in the future.

Looking forward to more, much more.

Best Space Opera Ever

I have enjoyed watching star blazers as a child and later reliving the experience when it was release on dvd.
While the many years have turned there have been few true space opera of battles and fights between the forces of good and evil.
Firestar starts very somewhat moderately paced space action that really draws you into the story. While Star Blazers is somewhat dated today, Firestar offers a more modern story to replace it with greater depth. There is far more than just this story as the are many others offered by the author on another website. I would say that the bruce has captured most of the original feeling of really true space opera.

Please feel free to sit back and enjoy the Corey and her spectacular rise to an Admiral on the Families Navy.

Me 163 Rocket Interceptor - Volume One

This was obviously a labor of love for the two authors (co-authored by Hans-Hermann Cammann); an extensively researched, comprehensively referenced, definitive work. It's written in English, despite Amazon's "(German)" suffix to the title. The first chapter (pp 9-38) covers the early development of tailless aircraft, including gliders, up to WWII. The number of tailless designs featured by the early pioneers was quite a surprise to this reader. Many apparently flew successfully, including the D.x series by Dunne, and many of Lippisch's earlier designs. One of the pre-requisites for good handling of a tailless aircraft design is stiff wings. Perhaps it was this difficulty with early construction methods/materials more then any other design challenge that resulted in the norm of tailed aircraft we see today. The second chapter (pp 39-55) runs partly in parallel with the first, detailing the development of rocket propulsion both in rockets (sic) and as applied to aircraft. The rest of the book (pp 56-193 plus appendices) is pretty well devoted to the research and development for the Me 163 plane itself. This commences with a detailed personal account of DFS 194 and Me 163A development by Alexander Lippisch. The book gives insights into the personalities and conflicts involved between Lippisch and the senior Messerschmitt staff (a case of not invented here?). This came to a head when Professor Messerschmitt himself proposing redesign the Me 163 by the addition of a "V" tail! The last chapters detail the Me 163A/B development with the Luftwaffe unit tasked with preparing the aircraft for operation, via a series of diary entries. This gave a fascinating insight into the specific challenges with the Me 163, including provisioning and storage of the fuels, maintenance and training of pilots, and actual development of the plane design itself towards combat readiness. This first book includes detailed technical drawings of all versions/variants of the Me 163A/B, and copious photographs. All in all a fascinating read for anyone interested in the Komet.

Seth and Casey were a couple, together and in love until part of a house fell on Seth while fire fighting. He nearly died and was grievously injured. To add to the insult, Seth had gone against orders when he went in. In his anger, he lashes out at everyone, particularly the one constant in his life – Casey. Casey tried to be there for Seth and wasn’t allowed. Some people look at Casey has being the bad guy, leaving Seth when he needed him most but these two know the truth.

They still live in the same town, just no longer in the same home. When Casey takes his students on a trip to Shorefields, a reward for a successful Christmas show, Seth was supposed to be in attendance. Of course, he’s blocking everyone out and saying no to commitment, so he blows it off.

It’s at Shorefields that the blizzard hits, just in time for the school bus to break down. Casey has ten frightened children with him and little connection to the outside. They are huddled in the bus, trying to figure out what to do when Seth, who fielded the emergency call, arrives. The only option is to get back into the building, wickedly difficult when it’s a white out. They manage it and are now stuck in the building.

Probably just what Seth and Casey need, because there is no where to run and nowhere to hide. They are forced to talk, Seth particularly. Seth is so stubborn you want to shake him. He blames everyone else for the things that are going on and he has some truly screwed up ideas.

These guys have known each other so long, since they were children, and it was great to see that they were able to listen to each other and make that effort to understand. I didn’t expect to ever like Seth but I did and by the end, I rooted for their reunion.
