A striking study of cultural production

Arenas offers an engaging discussion of the 'Lusophone Transatlantic Matrix' in the community of Portuguese-speaking African nations and their relationship with Portugal and Brazil. The focus is on today's world of globalization, market-oriented economies and multiparty politics. Drawing from popular music, film, literature and other cultural achievements, the outcome of this study is a framework of interpretation of recent cultural phenomena and historical developments. It is an impressive book and a pleasure to read.
